Office Visits & Appointments

Things to Know Before Your Office Visit

Pre-Visit Information

For your child’s first visit, please bring the current insurance card in addition to the up-to-date immunization dates for the child.  By entering all the immunization dates into the electronic medical record, we will be begin creating your child’s ‘medical home’ — the repository of health information on your child.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to your appointment in order to fill out the important demographic information for the record.

Office Hours

The office is open to see patients 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. – noon on Saturday.

Phones are answered from 8:00 a.m. – noon and from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8:00 a.m. – noon Saturday. The phones are off from noon – 1:00 p.m. each day to allow our staff a lunch break. Patients and their families may call the office phone number at any time for urgent matters to page the doctor on call.

The office is closed for the following six national holidays:

  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day.

We close early on Good Friday and Christmas Eve, so please call early on those days if your child needs to be seen.

Missed Appointments

We try very hard to be on time for our patients’ appointments. We value your time as well as our staff’s time. Please call ahead if you are unable to make your appointment or run into delays so that we may reschedule. Missed appointments are very inefficient for the care of our children. After three missed appointments (defined as missing an appointment without calling to notify us), we reserve the right to cancel our relationship with that family.

Payment Information

We ask that our patients pay their co-pays while in the waiting room prior to being seen in the examination rooms. This allows for less congestion at the front desk after being seen, as frequently there are families there dealing with clinical issues that require the time and attention of our front desk staff. The new Phreesia patient registration system makes this very easy and private for all patients.

Accepted Insurance Plans

We accept most major health insurance companies, including managed Missouri Medicaid (Home State, Healthy Blue, etc.), Aetna, Anthem, CIGNA, Coventry (GHP), Healthlink, United Healthcare, Tricare, and most other commercial insurers. Health insurance cards need to be presented with every visit, as does updated demographic information, in order to allow for efficient communication with the family.

“On-Call” Policy

The doctors of Jefferson Pediatrics take our own calls after hours — feel free to contact us. We do not rely on nurses or outside professionals to handle our patient calls.
