Electronic Medical Records Now Implemented

On November 1, 2011 we completed our implementation of eClinicalWorks, our electronic medical record system as a means of streamlining patient documentation within our practice and maintaining the forward-thinking position of the practice.  The new medical records have helped our patients in many ways:

  • We are able (in most cases) to ‘e-prescribe’ our medications, which prescribes (with perfect doctor handwriting) the medications for the pharmacy over the Internet.  In most cases the medications are waiting for the patient when the patient arrives at the pharmacy, depending on the time of day and how busy the pharmacy is  that day.
  • We are able to send claims to the insurance companies more quickly, allowing for the patients to resolve any claims issues in a more timely fashion.
  • Patients needing copies of immunizations are able to access them more quickly.
  • When we do sports physicals, we scan those records into the medical record.  If the athletic departments lose those forms (which happens numerous times per year), we can just print copies off the medical record and get them right out to the school.

The system is expected to improve over time as well, and we look forward to eClinicalWorks making enhancements each year.
